Premier League Review: Liverpool, Swansea, City And Wenger Dominate Season Grand Finale

Liverpool, Welsh side Swansea City, champions Manchester City and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger proved to be the headline grabbers at the end of this season’s grand finale (Matchday 38).

Liverpool thrashed Brighton 4-0 at home through goals from Mohamed Salah, Dejan Lovren, Dominic Solanke and Andrew Robertson to secure UEFA Champions League (UCL) football next season ahead of Chelsea who were beaten 3-0 by their hosts Newcastle United.

Salah scored the opening goal in the win over Brighton for his 32nd league goal thus winning the Golden Boot Award.

Swansea City dropped down to the English Championship after they were beaten 2-1 by their visitors Stoke City in what was a must-win game.

The Welsh side will join their opponents and basement club West Brom in the Championship next season.

Champions Manchester City became the first club to record 100 points in a 38-league game season in English top flight after Gabriel Jesus’ late winner secured a 1-0 win at Southampton who escaped relegation despite the defeat.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger took charge of his final game as the Gunners boss for the North London club’s 1-0 win at Huddersfield Town courtesy Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang’s 10th league goal since joining the club in January.
