Premier League Latest: Tottenham Falter In Top Four Bid After Southampton Draw

Tottenham missed out on the chance to move into the top four in the race for UEFA Champions League (UCL) football next season after they were forced to a 1-1 draw by their hosts Southampton in a week 24 league clash at the St. Mary’s Stadium.

The home side took the lead after Davidson Sanchez put through his own net off a Ryan Bertrand cross but Tottenham star Harry Kane converted Ben Davies cross to pull his side level.

Neither side could add to their goal tally as Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was forced to settle for a draw on the return to his former hunting ground.

The point earned takes fifth-placed Tottenham (45 points) to within two points of fourth-placed Liverpool (47 points) who play Welsh side Swansea City in a Monday Night Football clash while Southampton stay in the last relegation place, 18th, but significantly move within one point of safety.
