Pleateu United Rejigs Team, Drop Four Players

Plateau United Football Club of Jos has signed eight new players as they step up preparations for the kick-off of the 2018/2019 NPFL season next month.

In a statement by the Club’s Media Officer, Albert Dakup, the decision is aimed at fortifying the team as well as plugging areas that need to be fixed in the team so as to enable the 2017 League Champions challenge for another title.

He explained that the new signings who include defenders, midfielders and a striker, have started training with their new teammates, noting that the new players were recommended by the club’s scouts and the new Technical Adviser, Abdul Isah Maikaba.

Meanwhile, four players have been dropped from the team for various reasons ranging from low productivity, gross misconduct and indiscipline.

The Media Officer who noted that the four players who had their contracts terminated based on mutual consent have been given all their entitlements including payment for October.

Four other players have also been cautioned through warning letters to improve their performance and discipline or leave the club.

The four players, which include a goalkeeper, have been warned by the club’s management that a recurrence of such unprofessional behaviour will lead to immediate termination of their contracts.

Plateau United are targeting the NPFL title and the Aiteo Cup next season, having recently appointed former Akwa United head coach Abdul Maikaba as their new gaffer.
