Plateau United Sign Promising Flying Eagles Attacker

Defending champions of the Nigerian Professional Football League, Plateau United, have signed young and promising Flying Eagles forward, Jesse Akila.

The Jos-born forward signed a season long loan deal renewable at the end of every season.

Until this deal was signed on Tuesday in Jos, Akila plied his trade with MFM FC of Lagos and was an integral part of an attacking trident for the Olukoya Boys that included Sikiru Olatunbosun and Waheed Adebayo.

Akila signed on loan for MFM at the start of the league season after his deal with Niger Tornadoes was not renewed and scored for MFM on his home debut in Agege in a 2-1 win against Ifeanyi Ubah FC going on to forge a good partnership with Adebayo for whom he has assisted twice over the course of the first half of the season.

Failure to get registered in time for the CAF Champions League preliminary rounds hindered his progress a little but the quality and potential he has shown in the league was enough for the champions to poach him and get him to sign for them.

Speaking exclusively to busybuddiesng.com correspondent Wale Agbede on Monday, he said “I am very happy and excited to sign for Plateau United. That’s my boyhood club”. “What endeared me to the club is the project over there. We want to defend the title and I hope that at the end of the season, I will be a league champion.” he added.
