Plateau United Return To Winning Ways (Audio)

Champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League, Plateau United have secured the first three points of their last 360 minutes played in the league. A home victory this evening against Baba Ganaru’s Yobe Desert Stars moved the Peace Boys to 4th on the log from 10thposition and with a game in hand.

Despite missing influential players due to injury, the home side drew first blood when Amos Gyang got the opening goal of the game in the 36th minute.

However, the away team showed resilience and strength when they continued to pull some string of passes together and tried to control the game. Their resilience payed off when Philip Asuquo scored a contender for goal of the season as his shot from inside his team’s half flew past Dele Ajiboye who was caught far off his goal.

As the referee blew his whistle at half time and the players made their way through into the dressing room, the home team was booed while the away side and Asuquo in particular was hailed.

In the second half, Plateau united pressed further for a second goal and Emmanuel Edafe was at the right place at the right time when he tucked home after a goal mouth scramble.

Yobe Desert Stars couldn’t find a way past the Elisha Golbe led defense to get an equalizer but they will leave Jos with their heads up high after a good showing.

After the encounter, Kennedy Boboye refused to blame his goalie by admitting that mistakes are part of the game of football.
