Philippe Coutinho Gives Frank Assessment of His Season with Barcelona

Philippe Coutinho has been more than honest in his assessment of his miserable campaign with Barcelona.

Since sealing a move to Camp Nou in January 2018, Coutinho has failed to recapture the form that saw him become the interest of many.

And Coutinho himself has admitted that last season simply was not good enough.

“I have not had a good season,” Coutinho told Marca.

“My performances have been a lot worse than I expected they would. The only way to improve and gain confidence is through hard work, and I have been working hard.”

Coutinho’s move saw him become the most expensive player in Barcelona’s history, and he has since not lived up to the lofty expectations.

The Brazilian has since been linked with a move away from the Camp Nou, with top European sides looking to get his signature.

Coutinho is currently on duty with the Brazil squad in preparation for Copa America and has been a recent star performer in the national side’s last two friendlies.
