Paying The Price!  Bruce Arena Leaves Role After World Cup Failure

United States of America (USA) coach Bruce Arena has left his post after the team failed to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The team failed to book a place in Russia after a shock 2-1 loss to lowly Trinidad and Tobago when a point would have been good enough for at least a playoff spot.

The country fail to make the World Cup for the first time since 1986.

On the team’s failure to qualify for next year’s tournament, Bruce Arena said:

“We didn’t get the job done, and I accept responsibility.”

66-year old Arena left Major League Soccer (MLS) side LA Galaxy to succeed Jurgen Klinsmann in November.

The previously mentioned Klinsmann was sacked with the US bottom of the six-country qualifying group and fortunes thereafter changed under Arena only for all the optimism to qualify for Russia to evaporate in the final game.
