Oyeniyi Delighted With Silver Medal Feat In Asaba (Audio)

Nigerian sprinter Abejoye Oyeniyi is delighted with his performance after he won silver in the 110m hurdles final at the ongoing African Senior Athletics Championship in Asaba, Delta State.

Despite playing second fiddle to race winner and gold medallist Antonio Alkana of South Africa who won the event in 13.51s on Saturday, Abejoye Oyeniyi was happy to clinch a silver medal for Nigeria.

Reacting to his feat, Oyeniyi said: “I am happy with the position (second), I’m really really happy.”

On his future plans, he said: “I want to start preparing for the world championship next year.”

Abejoye Oyeniyi returned with a time of 13.51s to take silver ahead of bronze medallist Wellington Zaza of Liberia (13.88s).

Ogieriakhi Martins of Nigeria ran the race in 13.93s to finish in fourth position.
