Overconfidence!  NFF Already Celebrating World Cup Slot Before Crucial Zambia Clash (Photo)

If the above image is anything to go by, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) might be walking on egg shells ahead of the crucial 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Chipolopolo of Zambia at the Godstill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday.

The nation’s football body made the risky decision to print souvenirs which says Nigeria has already booked a spot at next summer’s tournament in Russia in addition to exotic wines customised in the name of the Federation to celebrate the success.

The souvenirs also thanked the president, Nigerians and especially the Akwa Ibom State Governor as well as the people of Akwa Ibom for their role in the World Cup success.

However this could come back to haunt the Federation with the Gernot Rohr-led Super Eagles still needing to win against 2012 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) champions Zambia to officially seal a spot in Russia 2018.

Failure to achieve this over the weekend means that the NFF is sure to come under a lot of criticisms for being too overconfident and for trying to ‘count their chicken before they are hatched’.
