Victor Osimhen has well and truly gotten into his groove in Serie A as he scored for the fourth successive game to help Napoli brush aside Spezia on Saturday.

The 22-year-old Nigerian scored twice and provided an assist as Gennaro Gattuso’s side boosted their Champions League hopes with a 4-1 dismantling of the hosts.

The result moves Napoli up to second in the table on 70 points, one more than Juventus, Atalanta and AC Milan all of whom have a game in hand.

Osimhen scored in the 23rd and 44th minutes to put Napoli 3-0 up following Piotr Zielinski’s 15th-minute opener.

The Super Eagles ace then laid on for Hirving Lozano to restore Napoli’s three-goal lead in the 79th-minute after Roberto Piccoli had pulled one back for Spezia.

It was his fifth goal in his last four games and he has now scored in four games on the trot after netting against Lazio, Torino and Cagliari.

Osimhen is now on 10 league goals for the season and has weighed in with a further 3 assists in 20 Serie A games, not a bad return considering his torrid start to the campaign.

The former Lille man has 10 goals involvement in his last ten games (8 goal and 2 assists) and is now beginning to show just why the Naples side spent a club and African record outlay to acquire his services last summer.

Osimhen’s red-hot goalscoring form could well prove the difference for Napoli in their bid to secure a place in the top four and Champions League football next season.
