Osimhen Joins New Teammates For Napoli Preseason Training Camp

Victor Osimhen has joined his teammates for the first time at new club Napoli as they embarked on their preseason training camp on Monday.

Napoli paid a club and African record €81m to secure the Nigerian on a five-year deal from French club Lille last month.

Osimhen had been on holidays in Lagos after completing the deal but has now reported to Napoli’s preseason camp at the Castel di Sangro for the start of his new adventure.

The eleven day camp will see Genarro Gatusso’s team hold intense training sessions on eight days as they bid to get fitness levels up to scratch for the new Serie A season which kicks off on 19 September.

I Partenopei will also participate in a three-team friendly tournament featuring Aquila and Castel di Sangro from on 28 August, before facing Teramo in another friendly on the last day of camping on 4 September.

With the ravages of Covid-19 still a concern, the club has instituted a number of precautionary measures including compulsory mask wearing for fans and temperature checks at the entrance of the Stadio Patini where the friendlies will be held.

A cap of 1,000 places has been placed for fan attendance with fans unable to attend more than one training session.

I Partenopei will be banking on Osimhen to lead them back to the Champions League places next season after a lowly seventh placed finish last season.
