Onyekuru Replaces Injured Ighalo

Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has called up Henry Onyekuru as a replacement for injured Odion Ighalo ahead of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification game against South Africa.

A tweet on the official handle of the Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the Tianjin Quanjian striker’s replacement.

Onyekuru returned to action last weekend for Galatasaray, after picking up an injury in Nigeria’s last qualifying fixture in against Libya in October.

Onyekuru featured in Galatasaray’s 2-0 loss to Schalke 04, in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash.

Nigeria are top of Group E with nine points, one more than Bafana Bafana who sit in second place.

Libya occupy third position with four points, while Seychelles have one point.

The Super Eagles will take on the Bafana Bafana at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on November 17 and then take on the Cranes of Uganda in an international friendly on November 20 at the Steven Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
