Olympics Qualifier: Nigeria’s Women’s Beach Volleyball Team Advance To Quarterfinals In Morocco

Nigeria’s women’s team are through to the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Beach Volleyball Qualifiers after a hard-fought 2-1 win against Cape Verde in Agadir, Morocco.

Nigeria will face The Gambia on Friday in the last 8 as they bid to book a spot in next month’s Tokyo Olympics.

The final phase of the CAVB Continental Cup for women will include Morocco, Mozambique, Egypt, Rwanda, Kenya, The Gambia, Nigeria and Cape Verde.

Meanwhile, Nigeria men’s team crashed out of the qualifiers despite beating Mali 2-1 in the third Pool B match.

In pool B Kenya set a claimed nerve-wracking but thrilling victory over Mozambique in one of the competition’s best face-offs that required a tiebreaker after both sides won one match each. Kenya prevailed in the decider and will join Mozambique in the quarterfinals while giants Nigeria were eliminated.

The last 8 in the Men’s Continental Cup are Morocco, Tunisia, Kenya, Mozambique, Ghana, Egypt, Gambia and Rwanda.
