Okoye Keeps First Clean Sheet As Sparta Rotterdam Win

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka kept his first clean sheet on only his third start for Sparta Rotterdam as they beat RKC Waalwijk in the Eredivisie on Saturday.

The 21-year-old conceded four goals on his league debut against SC Heerenveen last weekend after his first start for the club in the KNVB Beker Cup ended in a penalty shoot-out loss to Ado Den Haag.

He was, however, retained for a third straight game despite the inauspicious start to his Sparta career and the Germany-born Nigeria international finally had a reason to celebrate as his four saves helped Sparta see off the visitors 2-0.

Lennart Thy and Abdou Harroui scored two second half goals to seal victory for the hosts.

The win moved Sparta to 13th in the Eredivisie table on six points from eight games.
