Ogenyi Onazi Reveal Planned Move To England In January

Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi has revealed plans for a possible move to England “in the next transfer window” as he discusses his failed transfer to Birmingham City last summer.

24-year-old Onazi, who currently plays for Turkish club Trabzonspor, almost joined English Championship side Birmingham City last month but was denied work permit.

Speaking to the BBC, Onazi said: “Every disappointment is a blessing. I’m not disappointed,”

“Somehow you can call it disappointment because there was an opportunity for me to go to England to start another life, another football entirely, but nevertheless there is never a dull moment.”

Onazi has been an integral member of the Super Eagles for almost five years, playing in all four of Nigeria’s games at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and also helped Nigeria to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

He continues: “I believe in the next transfer window it’s going to happen. Now we know what we need to do to make everything happen.”

“I can only keep working hard to help my team now; I know and believe by the special grace of God it’s going to happen soon.”
