Ogbeide Rues Okpotu’s Absence In Kwara United Loss

Lobi Stars head coach Solomon Ogbeide has lamented the absence of the club’s star man Anthony Okpotu after his side suffered a 1-0 loss to Kwara United in a Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) Matchday 6 clash at the Ilorin Township Stadium on Thursday evening.

Okpotu is presently with the home-based Super Eagles at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) and he has helped Nigeria qualify for the final.

The experienced tactician made this known in a chat with npfl.ng as he also commended the hosts for a wonderful performance.

In his words, Ogbeide said: “Kwara United did very well today. They did well to win.”

“But I would have loved to have my striker Okpotu here because he is a big part of this team.

“But we will focus on the next game (against FC Ifeanyiubah) now.

“We will go back and make corrections in areas of the team where we lacked in this game.” he concluded.

The win was enough to take Kwara United (6 points) off the bottom of the table into 19th position while Lobi Stars stay in 5th spot with 10 points from 6 league games.
