OFFICIAL: Fatai Osho Joins Rivers United As ‘Chief Coach’

Former Enyimba manager Fatai Osho has joined Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Rivers United as their ‘Chief Coach,’ the club has announced.

Osho replaces Ndubuisi Nduka, who was promoted to the role of a Technical Director by the CAF Champions League campaigners.

“We’re delighted to announce Fatai Osho has joined the club as our Chief Coach,” a club statement signed by Rivers United media officer Charles Mayuku said.

“Fatai replaces Ndubuisi Nduka who has been elevated to the office of Technical Director.”

Former Remo Stars coach Osho spent two seasons at Enyimba, guiding the two-time African champions to back-to-back quarter-final appearances in the CAF Confederation Cup.

After leading the People’s Elephant to a third-place finish in the NPFL last season, Osho’s contract was not renewed by Enyimba, who replaced him with former Super Eagles winger Finidi George.

As Chief Coach of Rivers United, Osho is expected to serve as an assistant to Technical Manager Stanley Eguma.

Osho’s first outing for his new side will be in the CAF Champions League, where Rivers United face Sudanese giants Al Hilal, who eliminated his former club Enyimba from the competition last season.

The first leg of their first round tie comes up in Port Harcourt on Sunday, 17 October.
