Details of Odion Ighalo‘s salary package during his loan stay at Manchester United have been revealed.
The 30-year-old signed for the Red Devils on deadline day in a left-field move that took the world by surprise.
It is a return to England for the former Super Eagles striker but more importantly, the move marked the fulfilment of a lifelong dream of playing for the club he has supported all his life.
And the former Watford striker didn’t mind paying a steep price to make his dream come true.
In his first interview with United’s website, Ighalo revealed that he was so desperate to make the move that he agreed to a pay cut.
The exact value of the pay cut has now been revealed with the Dailymail revealing that United paid a £4m loan fee to Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua.
Ighalo, according to the publication, took a massive 50% pay cut on his weekly wages of £300,000 at Shanghai Shenhua to make the move to Old Trafford.
Ighalo will now earn £165,000-a-week throughout his loan deal at Old Trafford.
Reports also suggest that his loan move could be made permanent if talks between Shanghai Shenhua and Manchester United go according to plan.

The striker who is currently on warm-weather training with the rest of United’s first team in Spain could make his debut on February 17 when United visit Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea.
