Sunshine Stars took the kick off at about 2pm and began to control proceedings. Their early pressure and dominance reaped dividends as Rivers Angels’ Amaechi Ojini put the ball into her own net on the 6th minute.

The girls from Port Harcourt, tried their best to equalize before halftime, but goal-tender Elizabeth Johnson was in her elements to ensure Sunshine led at halftime.

After the restart,  the Aiteo Cup champions continued from where they stopped, trying to find d net against a resilient Sunshine Queens side. Against the run of play,  the Owena Mermaids nearly doubled their lead, but this time goalkeeper Ibubeleye Whyte would not be beaten.
