NWPL Awards: Anam Imo Beats Ajibade, Nwabuoku, Others to Player of the Season Award

Anam Imo Joins Swedish Club Rosengard

Nassarawa Amazons Forward, Anam Imo begins 2019 on a fruitful note as she stepped up the podium as the 2018 Nigeria Women Premier League Player of the Season at the Agege Township Stadium, Lagos.

Imo wrapped up 2018 as the highest goal scorer in the Women League, scoring eight goals for the Amazon Queens. The former Ibom Angels forward was instrumental to Nigeria’s qualification for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, scoring in both legs of the final qualification game against South Africa.

She did not put her legs to the break as she got a call up to Coach Thomas Dennerby’s WAFU Women Cup squad as she helped the team with a goal against Togo in their final group game.

2018 continued beautifully well for the Forward as she made the cut in Dennerby’s African Women Cup of Nations(AWCON) squad which emerged champions for a record 9th time.

The 18-year-old beat the likes of Robo Queens’ Rasheet Ajibade, Rivers Angels’ Evelyn Nwabuoku, Osun Babes’ Anjor Mary, Sunshine Queens’ Tina Oyatheleme and Delta Queens’ Brume Ikhekhua who were nominated for the Award.
