2018 League Champions Bayelsa Queens and Aiteo Cup Champions Rivers Angels will battle for dominance in the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) Champions Shield scheduled for the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa on Saturday, August 24.

The Restoration Girls shocked bookmakers when they stunned defending champions Nasarawa Amazons 2-0 in the NWPL Super 4 final at Lagos’ Agege Stadium in January courtesy of second-half goals from Uzoamaka Igwe and Joy Bokiri to win their fifth NWPL title.

Though Rivers Angels finished in last place at the 2018 NWPL Super 4, they had earlier defeated Ibom Angels to lift the 2018 edition of the Women’s Aiteo Cup.

Bayelsa Queens will hope to, once again, stun bookmakers as they go up against Rivers Angels who are the defending champions of the Champions Shield.

Both teams have been in impressive form before the 2018/2019 NWPL mid-season break as both sides top Groups A and C respectively.

The match has been scheduled for a 4pm kickoff.
