Nwakali Left Out Of Manchester City’s Preseason Tour Of US

Nigerian midfielder Chidiebere Nwakali’s future at Premier League champions Manchester City has been thrown into serious doubt after he was left out of the club’s preseason tour of the United States (US).

Nwakali, 21, joined Manchester City in 2015 and has been sent out on loan to clubs like Girona and Malaga (Spain) as well as IK Start and Sogndal (Norway).

His last loan deal was at Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen where he featured in just eight games.

He has been linked with a move from the Etihad Stadium with clubs like KAA Gent (Belgium) and NAC Breda (Netherlands) reportedly interested.

Chidiebere Nwakali was missing in the 28-man squad revealed by the club on Tuesday but three Nigerian-born players namely Tosin Adarabioyo, Tom Dele-Bashiru and Nathaniel Egbeta made the list.

Manchester City will play against other European heavyweights like Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup  before returning to England to play Chelsea in this year’s Community Shield on August 5.

The Citizens wiil start their Premier League title defence at Arsenal on August 12.
