NPFL: We Are Under No Pressure Ahead of Kano Pillars Clash – Mfon Udoh

The stage is set, preparations concluded and right now, all eyes are on the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, where four times league champions Kano Pillars will trade tackles with two times Federation Cup winners.

In some 3-4 years back, this match would have easily been considered as a stroll in the park for Kano Pillars.  The Sai Masu Gida have made their home a fortress, thereby making any team fret anytime they visit the Pyramid city.

Pundits believe that pressure is high on Rafael Everton and his wards after that home loss to El-Kanemi Warriors on opening day.

Akwa made 12 signings into the new season and everyone expected them to be top contenders for the title.

One of those signings, Mfon Udoh,  who holds the record for highest goals scored in a league season has come out to say the team is not under pressure of any sort.

Speaking with busybuddiesng.com, the Uyo-born goal poacher had this to say when asked if there’s pressure on the team.

“It’s a familiar situation,  I don’t feel any pressure because I’ve been with a team in this situation before.  We are doing our best, we are our normal selves, taking the game like a normal game, no pressure and we trust that we are going to win.”

Mfon Udoh who is on his second stint with the Promise Keepers, after previously representing the club before his move to Aba giants, Enyimba.  While at Enyimba, he scored some vital goals for the elephants and also helped them to a league triumph.

He will be aiming to use his experience and that of his new teammates to help salvage Akwa United’s seeming predicament after the Uyo side lost in front of home fans in their opening fixture.

On his target for the game,  “the only target I have for today’s  game is to get Akwa united  to win.” He said.

Akwa United, still on a search for a point and a goal since the commencement of the league will be banking on their plethora of available options to grab maximum three points at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
