NPFL Watch: Enyimba, Plateau Boost Top Three Pursuit With Victories

Enyimba and Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Plateau United have boosted their hopes of finishing in the top three with respective wins in their rescheduled games on Wednesday evening.

10-man Enyimba defeated MFM 2-0 at home courtesy first half goals from Chinonso Okonkwo and Nelson Ogbonnaya.

The 2-time CAF Champions League winners finished the game with 10 men following the dismissal of Isiaka Oladuntoye in the second half.

The win was enough to take Enyimba (21 points) from 11th spot into the top five while their opponents drop two places from 8th to 10th with 19 points.

In the other game played on Wednesday evening, champions Plateau United beat Yobe Desert Stars 2-1 at home to secure 4th position.

Amos Gyang’s first half opener for Plateau United was cancelled out by Philip Asuquo on the stroke of halftime before Emma Odafe struck the winner ten minutes after the interval and eleven minutes before Chinedu Ohanachom was sent off for the visitors.

The victory was enough for Kennedy Boboye’s side to take 4th position from their opponents having been in 10th place while Yobe Desert Stars drop from 4th to 6th spot on the league table.
