NPFL TRANSFER WINDOW: AKWA UNITED CLOSE TO MFON UDOH, SIKIRU ALIMI DEALS

Former Enyimba striker Mfon Udoh is reportedly close to joining NPFL side Akwa United.

According to busybuddiesng.com sources, the former Nigerian league topscorer confirmed that “they [Akwa United] have spoken to him and he’s also spoken to them” but nothing is done yet.

“Nothing is official yet so I can’t confirm anything”

Mfon Udoh, 26, finished top scorer in the 2014 season with 23 goals but has been a free agent since mutually terminating his contract with Enyimba in September.

If he returns to the Uyo based side, it will be his second stint at the club, where he started his top-flight career as a 20-year-old in 2012. Udoh scored 16 goals in 34 games in his only season at the club.

Alongside Udoh, Akwa United are also in the market for striker Sikiru Alimi. Like Udoh, Alimi is also a free agent after spending two seasons at Sunshine Stars.

It is unclear yet if Akwa United are in an either-or situation with the two strikers, or if the 2018 season second-placed side are going all-in for the two attacking options.
