NPFL: Rivers United “Not Afraid” Of Wounded Heartland FC – Eguma (AUDIO)

AUDIO: We will Do Everything Possible To Defeat Enyimba – Eguma

Rivers United head coach Stanley Eguma expects a difficult encounter against familiar foes Heartland FC at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt but believes United will come out on top in the 2019/2020 Nigeria Professional Football League Matchday 2 encounter on Sunday.

Heartland FC were on the wrong end of a shocker on the opening weekend when current coach Fidelis Ilechukwu’s former side MFM FC pipped the Naze Millionaires 1-0 in Okigwe to record the only away win of Matchday 1.

Rivers United, on the other hand, secured a hugely impressive goalless draw at the Sani Abacha Stadium against Kano Pillars on the same day.

And with Heartland still smarting from the loss to MFM and the match a derby of sorts owing to the proximity between both teams, Eguma expects the Owerri-based team to come out all guns blazing against United as they search for a first win under Ilechukwu.

The long-serving United coach, however, says his side are “not afraid” and “plan to win” to keep their nascent unbeaten run active.

“We expect a tough game at home [against Heartland FC] who are our rivals. They are our next-door neighbours; they know us and we know them so we expect a tough game from them.

“But we are not afraid, we can contain them and we are going to plan to win because the three points at stake is very important.”
