NPFL: Rangers Maintain Top Spot After Edging Abia Warriors In Five-Goal Thriller

Enugu Rangers edged Abia Warriors 3-2 in the Oriental derby at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, Enugu, in week 30 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Tuesday.

The win means Rangers, on 54 points, are top on the log as they return to winning ways.

Isaac Saviour put Rangers 1-0 ahead in the 7th minute but two minutes into first half stoppage time Adejoh Ojonugwa equalised for Abia Warriors.

In the 48th minute Kazeem Ogunleye put Rangers 2-1 ahead while Chiedozie Okorie added the third for the home team on 63 minutes.

Abia Warriors pulled a goal back in the 92nd minute through Paschal Nwabueze, but it was too late as Rangers held on for the three points.

In another Oriental derby, Enyimba pipped Heartland 1-0 thanks to Ekene Awazie’s 35th minute goal.
