NPFL: Rangers Beat Heartland In Oriental Derby; Secure Top Spot, Akwa United Win Away

Rangers secured top position in the Nigeria Premier Football League following a 2-1 victory against Heartland in their oriental clash in Aba on Sunday.

Emmanuel Onyebuchi put Rangers ahead eight minutes before the break.

The visitors doubled their lead through Kalu Nweke on 54 minutes.

Chinedu Chukwu gave the home team the lead a minute after the hour mark.

Bayelsa United rallied with Kehinde Lawal netting the equaliser 11 minutes from time.

In Jos, Akwa United recorded their first away win of the season courtesy of a 2-1 victory against Plateau United.

Cameroon defender, Gerome Heutchou opened scoring for the visitors in the 10th minute, while Sunday Anthony equalised for Plateau United from the spot 13 minutes from time.
