NPFL: Osho Worried About Goal Drought After Disappointing Heartland Draw (AUDIO)

Enyimba coach Fatai Osho has expressed disappointment over his side’s uninspiring goalless stalemate against oriental rivals Heartland in a Match Day 24 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) encounter on Sunday in Aba.

Despite creating a plethora of scoring chances and also dominating possession from start to finish, the People’s Elephant were held at home by the Naze Millionaires, who stretched their unbeaten run against Enyimba to nearly six years.

“Quite disappointing one. Looking at the way we played, we created more than enough chances,” Osho said after the match. “When you create such chances, it is important you utilize them. And that’s something we refused to do today (Sunday).

“And it’s not because of want of effort. These boys put in a whole lot of effort. You can see a whole lot of transformation from the way we’ve been playing of late. But unfortunately, we couldn’t convert those chances.

“We are not placing blame on any one of them. We want encourage them the more, so that they can come back on Wednesday (against Lobi Stars) to get the desired result.”

The barren draw against Heartland leaves Enyimba 7th in the NPFL table, with 35 points from 20 matches, having four games in hand.

The record 8-time NPFL champions, who have not scored three goals in a match in all competitions this season, have now failed to score in three of their last five league games, and the Enyimba gaffer admits the poor scoring form of his side will need some urgent action.

“I think we have to work on their (the players) psyche also,” the former Remo Stars handler said.

“The day they break the two-goal jinx, I think they will start scoring goals. And if you look at it very well, it could have been today (Sunday), but unfortunately, this is even the day we did not score any goal.”

Up next for Enyimba is a rescheduled NPFL tie against Lobi Stars in Aba on Wednesday.
