NPFL: Nasarawa United Striker, Ibrahim Sunusi Beats Mfon Udoh to Golden Boot Prize

Nasarawa United’s Ibrahim Sunusi has been named the highest goal scorer in the recently concluded regular season of the 2018/2019 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Sunusi equal Akwa United’s Mfon Udoh on ten goals on the final matchday of the season going into the Super Six Playoffs that will determine the season’s champions and Nigeria’s representatives on the continent.

The League Management Company (LMC) in arriving at the decision to declare Sunusi the top scorer of the season relied on provisions in Rule A9.4, A9.5-2 which stipulated considerations to choose the lead scorer in the event of a tie of two or more players.

Disciplinary records, which is the second consideration to break a tie favoured Sunusi as he only bagged a yellow card all through the season as against two recorded for Udoh.

Former Kano Pillars forward, Junior Lokosa was named the highest goal scorer for the 2017/2018 NPFL season after scoring 19 goals, earning him the Eunisell Golden Boot and a cash prize of NGN 3.8 million.
