NPFL Matchday 7: Fireworks In Umuahia As Abia Warriors Aim To Stop Another Eastern Side On The Rise

Teams in the 2019 abridged Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) will be jostling to win maximum points, both home and away as the kickoff of matches on Matchday 7 beacons.

At the Pantami stadium in Gombe, Wikki tourists of Bauchi welcome Enyimba for a crucial encounter. The tourists have already lost at home this season and coach Aliyu Zubairu would not want such feat to repeat itself as he will want to use this match to make amends for that narrow loss to MFM, some days back in Lagos.

Meanwhile, Enyimba have not been good travellers this season. Their inability to nick points away from home is responsible for their position on the log. Coach Usman Abdallah was pleased with his side for ending their two match goal drought with a 2-nil win over Rivers United in Aba and moreso, he will be expecting more goals in this encounter

The Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt sees another interesting tie. Just fresh from a defeat in the hands of the people’s elephants, Rivers United will trade tackles with visiting Kwara United. A win for Rivers Utd could see them go back on top of the log, pending other results elsewhere. For Kwara United, a win will give them 8pts in as many games. Their last away match saw them concede three unreplied first half goals in the hands of champions Lobi stars. The Harmony boys will aim to make life difficult for their hosts in this encounter.

GoRound FC of Omoku will play hosts to visiting Kano Pillars at The Krisdera Hotels Stadium, famously known as “The lions den”. Coach Willy Udube is aware of the threat posed by the men from the pyramid city and will want to make amends after their disappointing 3-nil loss to Akwa united in Uyo. Kano pillars are level on points with GoRound, but superior goal difference sees them occupy 4th spot on the log while the hosts are 5th placed. Coach Ibrahim Musa will be looking up to his attackers to give the home side’s defence, a good run for their money.

Yobe Deserts Stars will welcome Akwa United to the August 27 stadium in Damaturu. Yobe deserts have amassed 6 points in 4 matches while Akwa united have gatheted 5 points after playing 5 matches. The Promise Keepers’ confidence will be boosted after they returned to winning ways on matchday 6 at home. Meanwhile, Yobe deserts will want to pick themselves up after losing narrowly to El-kanemi warriors in Maiduguri.

Abia Warriors return home and yet again, they are involved in another oriental derby. This time, they welcome table toppers Heartland FC. The warriors will be buoyed by their win over fellow eastern neighbours Ifeanyi Ubah FC on Sunday. That match saw Abia warriors end ifeanyi ubah’s unbeaten and clean sheet run, thanks to Goal keeper Charles Enaholo for coming up with superb saves, including a late penalty save to ensure warriors gain maximum points in that encounter. Heartland of Owerri currently occupy top spot on the B log. They were nearly shocked at home last time out, by new boys Kada City, but it took a spirited second half performance for them to snatch the win in that 5-goal thriller. Coach Ransom Madu will once again be looking forward to teenage sensation Samuel Nnoshiri to deliver for his side as they would want to hold on to the top spot for a long time.
