NPFL Matchday 24 Review: Lobi Extend Lead As MFM Secure First Away Win

Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) leaders Lobi Stars have extended their lead at the top of the table to five points after they thrashed Yobe Desert Stars 3-0 at home in their Matchday 24 clash on Sunday evening.

Veteran forward David Tyavkase, Austin Ogunye and Cletus Itodo got the goals for Solomon Ogbeide’s team.

Lagos club MFM FC recorded their first away win of the season in another Matchday 24 duel following their impressive 1-0 win at FC IfeanyiUbah with David Alalade getting the only goal of the game just before the hour mark.

Fidelis Ilechukwu’s team had goalkeeper Emmanuel Nasamu to thank for the away points as he saved Pascal Seka’s 71st minute penalty to preserve the win for the CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC) campaigners.

In the pick of the other games played on Sunday, Kano Pillars picked up an impressive goalless draw at Abia Warriors though that didn’t stop the former champions from moving down one place to third on the league table while Sunshine Stars also posted the same result at the home of Rivers United but it was not enough to drag them out of the relegation zone at the end of Matchday 24.

The match between Nasarawa United and Enyimba also caught get eye with the former edging a seven-goal thriller courtesy two goals from Emmanuel Makama.
