NPFL Matchday 21: Pillars Narrow Gap To Leaders Lobi With Win As Abia Stun MFM In Lagos

Kano Pillars have moved to within two points of Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) leaders Lobi Stars following their 3-1 win over Katsina United at the Sanni Abacha Stadium in what was was a Matchday 21 clash played on Sunday evening.

The league’s leading goalscorer Junior Lokosa netted a brace either side of Nyima Nwagwa’s strike to give the hosts a 3-0 before Destiny Ashadi scored what proved to be mere consolation for Katsina United.

MFM FC of Lagos suffered their first league defeat of the season at home after they were beaten 1-0 by Abia Warriors courtesy Ndifreke Effiong’s 52nd strike.

Akwa United, Rivers United, FC IfeanyiUbah and Kwara United also recorded some form of success on the road with respective draws.

AITEO Cup champions Akwa United played out an impressive goalless draw at the home of former league champions Enugu Rangers while Rivers United secured a hard earned 1-1 draw with their hosts El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri.

FC IfeanyiUbah and Kwara United also played out respective 1-1 draws at the home of Yobe Desert Stars and Niger Tornadoes.
