NPFL Matchday 2 Review: Champions Plateau United Maintain Perfect Start As Oriental Derby Ends In Stalemate

Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Plateau United maintained their 100% start to the season following their 2-0 win over Rivers United at home in what was a Matchday 2 clash.

Goals either side of the interval from Elisha Golbe and Emeka Umeh handed Kennedy Boboye’s men an easy win.

In the Oriental Derby, Heartland goalkeeper Ebele Obi made several saves to deny hosts Enyimba as both sides played out a goalless draw.

In the pick of the other games, Lobi Stars stunned 2016 champions Enugu Rangers 2-1 courtesy goals from Samad Kadiri and Ibukun Harrison while the home side got their consolation through a Chiamaka Madu penalty.

Niger Tornadoes are the new leaders after they also maintained their perfect start to the season, just like Plateau United, with a slim 2-1 win over FC IfeanyiUbah at home.
