NPFL Matchday 11 Review: Pillars Beat Go Round To Secure Summit As Lobi Move Into Second Spot With Away Win

Kano Pillars have gone back to the top of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) table following their 2-0 win over Go Round FC at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano in what was a Matchday 11 clash.

Pillars capitalised on leaders Plateau United’s non-action as a result of continental engagement.

The former champions and the newly promoted outfit had played out a goalless first half affair with leading scorer Junior Lokosa missing from the spot but they were not to be denied in the second half.

Alhassan Ibrahim stepped up to convert another spot kick with 13 second half minutes gone before Lokosa atoned for his penalty miss to wrap up the easy win with his 10th league goal of the season with five minutes left on the clock.

Lobi Stars recorded the only away win on Sunday courtesy a 1-0 victory over Heartland via a Samad Kadiri strike in the first half.

Both sides finished with 10 men after Fuad Ekelojuoti and Ekene Olisema were sent off for Heartland and Lobi Stars respectively because of two yellow cards.

The Makurdi-based side are now second on the league table and just behind leaders Kano Pillars on goal difference.
