NPFL Matchday 1 Review: Plateau United Start Title Defence With Away Win; Tornadoes Also Secure Win At Kwara United

Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Plateau United are off to a winning start in their quest to retain the league title they won last season.

Kennedy Boboye’s men stunned Nasarawa United 1-0 at the Lafia Township Stadium with the only goal of the game coming three minutes from time through new signing Raphael Ayagwa.

Niger Tornadoes were the other team to record an away win on Matchday 1 following their 2-0 victory over Kwara United at the Ilorin Township Stadium.

New signing Eric Frimpong and Ibrahim Babawo scored either side of halftime to give new head coach Erasmus Onuh an important win in his first game in charge of the Minna-based side.
