NPFL: Lobi Stars Coach Dombraye Doesn’t ‘Know How Prepared’ Team Is For New Season (AUDIO)

Lobi Stars coach Eddy Dombraye has sensationally declared that he does not ‘know how prepared we are’ ahead of his team’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) opening game against Rivers United.

The Pride of Benue hosts Stanley Eguma’s Rivers United in Makurdi on Sunday, but preparations for the new season have been far from impressive, after Lobi Stars lost all three of their preseason matches at the recently-concluded Presidential Cup in Abuja.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Pride of Rivers, the 42-year-old ex-Heartland star expressed worry over his side’s form, noting that Eguma’s men, who recently competed in the CAF Confederation Cup, will pose a tough challenge for the former NPFL champions.

“Honestly, I don’t know how prepared we are until we play tomorrow, because we had some test games in the Presidential Cup and we lost all of them,” the former Flying Eagles star told www.busybuddiesng.com.

“So, how prepared we are? I don’t know. Until we play tomorrow, then we’ll see.

“And you know Rivers United is a top side. They just got knocked out from the (CAF) Confederation Cup. So, they are in good shape and all that.

“So, how prepared we are? I really don’t know. Let’s see tomorrow.”

After spending large spells of his playing career in Poland, Serbia and Ukraine, Dombraye is undergoing his first coaching adventure in the country with Lobi Stars.

The Makurdi-based side will also travel to Kaduna to confront 4-time NPFL champions Kano Pillars in a Match Day 2 clash, before returning home for the visit of newly-promoted Shooting Stars
