NPFL: Lion of Nigeria’s Topflight League Roars Again

The King in the Palace leads the people and so does Mfon Udoh, Nigeria Professional Football League’s (NPFL) record goalscorer after nine (9) matches for 2017 Aiteo Cup Champions, Akwa United.

Udoh scored a record 23 goals for his former club Enyimba, a record no player has been able to break so far.

On a rescheduled 2019 NPFL matchday 2 fixture, Mfon Udoh’s volley got the Promise Keepers in front shortly after NPFL debutant, Emmanuel Charles had come off the bench to cancel Usman Musa’s opener.

But then, Faruk’s cross was impeded by Dennis Nya’s hand inside the box in the 89th minute allowing Musa to find the back of the net from the spot and increase his goal tally to six, one short of Mfon.

Meanwhile, Yaya Kone’s fifth goal of the season was crucial in saving Lobi Stars from an embarrassing home loss as Kone converted from the spot to cancel katsina United Martin Usule’s 12th-minute volley.
