NPFL: Katsina United Goalie Reveals His Mojo after Winning Fans’ Hearts in Uyo (AUDIO)

Katsina United goalie Abdullahi Boje endeared hearts to his terrific performance and denied Akwa United of any accolades from their home fans who stood up in revolt to applaud the visitors at the end of a barren 90-minute of football in Uyo.

The Visitors conceded an 81st-minute penalty against the 2017 Aiteo Cup Champions on Matchday 4 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) but Boje’s heroics denied Mfon Udoh from scoring his third goal of the season and left the home team in want of their first win.

Speaking to busybuddiesng.com, Boje who made a series of goal-denying saves said: “I thank God for today’s game. We play very well today. We played to the instruction of the coach and we thank God at the end of the day, we get the result.”

After the ball got handled by one of the bodies in red in the 18-yard box, the goalkeeper was found wandering close to the technical area and seen hugging his trainer Ahmed Jibrim after a brief chit-chat.

“What happened is that I went to go and take instruction from my goalkeeper trainer. He encouraged me to save them and I told him I will save this penalty by God’s grace. I thank God that I saved the penalty,” He revealed.

“I feel so happy because what we planned for worked out. We planned to get points here but I thank God that at the end of the day we got at least a draw,” Boje stated.
