NPFL: I’ll Put Remo On The Continent – Boboye (AUDIO)

Newly installed Remo Stars Technical Adviser Kennedy Boboye says he aims to put the club in the “limelight” and ensure continental football for the Sagamu based team at the end of the season.

Boboye who signed a one year deal with the club was unveiled to fans on Friday and the former Sunshine Stars, Abia Warriors and Plateau United head honcho told busybuddiesng.com that he hopes to help the club accomplish their ambition of being powerhouses on the domestic and continental front in his time with them.

“[My goal] is to take them to [the] limelight,” Boboye who led Plateau United to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title told busybuddiesng.com.

“Every team wants to play, and play on the continent and this is a young team that has a very big ambition to put their name in gold in the world of football especially in Nigeria because what is on ground here, the structure they have on ground here is marvelous and massive so if you are coming here to work you know that you have a very big task ahead of you.”

Boboye’s first big task sees him lead Remo out against fellow newly promoted side Bendel Insurance who visit the Gateway International Stadium in Sagamu for what will be the first taste of NPFL action for both sides since gaining promotion to the top tier.

Insurance incidentally were one nil victors over Remo Stars in the group stage of the Nigeria National League (NNL) organized promotion playoffs known as the Super Eight, but Boboye points out he wasn’t in charge of the team at the time and says in any case, that loss wouldn’t play on the minds of his wards in Sunday’s encounter.

“I wasn’t in charge of the team in the super 8 so I think that is history,” he said, “we are thinking about a new dream team now that is going to come out tomorrow to play. That loss has come and it has gone so we’ve forgotten that.”

As to the game itself, Boboye anticipates a tough encounter against Insurance but says his team will “fight and make sure we get our three points”.

“We will just make sure we fight and make sure we get our three points, put it at the back of our bank and continue from there. It’s not going to be an easy one, these are the few teams missing that came from the NNL and tomorrow they will be playing their first game in the NPFL it’s going to be a tough one but come end of tomorrow by God’s grace, we will have our three points.”
