NPFL: Ibom Derby Clubs Set New Decade Records as Plateau United Destroy Enyimba on MD12

Ibom Derby Clubs Akwa United and Dakkada FC began a new decade in the Nigeria Professional Football League on record notes as Plateau United thrashed Enyimba to stay top of the league after matchday 12.

Plateau United picked up from their impressive run before their loss to Abia Warriors  with a 4-0 thumping of Enyimba on Sunday.

Abba Umar scored two second half goals for the Tin City club after Uche Onwuasoanya and Ibrahim Mustapha had scored earlier to put Plateau in the driving seat.

Match captain, Daniel Itodo was sent off six minutes before full time after receiving his second booking in the match but could not stop the hosts from capping up their win with a clean sheet.

Dakkada FC got the better of struggling Adamawa Utd with a 4-1 triumph as Moses Efffiong grabbed the first Hat-trick of the decade in Nigeria’s top-flight league.

Effiong’s first goal of the evening came seconds after the blast of the opening whistle and stands as the fastest goal scored this season.

Elsewhere, Heartland defeated Rangers 2-1 while Wikki Tourist were held  at home 1-1 by Katsina United.

Nasarawa Unitrd edged FC Ifeanyi Ubah while Lobi Stars were 2-0 better than Sunshine Stars who are currently lacking the services of hitman Israel Abia as the club declared the current NPFL highest goal scorer AWOL.

Kwara United and Rivers United got past Abia Warriors  and MFM FC by 2-0 margins respectively.

Earlier on Saturday, Akwa United grabbed their first win away from the Nest of Champions against Jigawa Golden Stars as Akarandut Orok scored the first goal of the new decade to gift Kennedy Boboye a 100 percent record since his arrival.

Warri Wolves earned a point in Kano after playing out a 1-1 against Kano Pillars.
