NPFL: Heartland Complete Comeback To Rescue Point Against Abia Warriors

Samuel Nnoshiri’s 63rd-minute penalty completed a second half turnaround for home side Heartland as they overcame a two-goal deficit to force Abia Warriors to a 2-2 draw in Owerri on matchday 14 of the 2020-21 NPFL season.

Nnoshiri’s spot kick came after Pascal Eze had pulled one back for the Naze Millionaires on the stroke of halftime to reduce the deficit to one goal at half time.

Godwin Obaje had struck a quickfire double to put the visitors two goals up inside 16 minutes.

But the home side rallied to ensure a share of the spoils and avoid consecutive defeats after losing at Rangers last time out.

The draw means Imama Amapakabo’s Warriors are now unbeaten in five games and their catastrophic start to the season seem to be well and truly behind them.

Elsewhere, Yusuf Maigoro saw red as Kano Pillars and Rangers settled for a 1-1 draw in Kaduna.

The visitors grabbed an early 9th-minute through Ernest Governor but the hosts struck back in the 42nd-minute when Auwali Ali Malam levelled scores.

But the Sai Masu Gida were forced to complete the game with 10 men after Maigoro received his marching orders in the 68th-minute.

Mohammed Zulkilful scored a brace as home side Plateau United brushed off MFM 3-1 in Jos and leaders Kwara United scored late through Jibola Adeleke to snatch a 1-1 draw at Wikki Tourists.
