Games in the Nigeria Professional Football League will likely be played behind closed doors after matchday 25 following the postponement of the Edo 2020 National Sports Festival, Chairman League Management Company, Shehu Dikko says.
According to reports by Kowope of NPFL Insider, Dikko said the League Management Company were considering shifting/playing the remaining NPFL games behind closed doors after the Minister of Youths and Sports Sunday Dare announced the postponement of the Sports Festival.
”Now the Health authorities have advised for the National Sports Festival to be postponed, we are duty bound to also review our situation. Thus after tomorrow’s NPFL games, we will have to review if to revert all the games to closed door like it is done in some countries like Turkey and/or postpone for a few weeks.” he said.
The Nigeria Football Federation Vice President stated that a final decision will be reached pending consultations with relevant “authorities”.
We still have to consult the authorities appropriately in this regard.”
