NPFL: Eguma Hails Players After Away Win At Heartland (AUDIO)

AUDIO: We will Do Everything Possible To Defeat Enyimba – Eguma

Rivers United coach Stanley Eguma has heaped praises on his players after The Pride of Rivers secured an impressive 2-0 away win against Heartland in Okigwe, their third this season on the road.

Home-boy Malachy Ohawume scored twice against the run of play in the second half to hand Eguma’s men the crucial win, as they remain on course for the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title this season.

Rivers United maintained second spot on the NPFL standings with the win, and now have 39 points from 22 matches, still one point behind leaders Plateau United (40).

“It was a good performance from my players,” Eguma said after the match. “You know we prepared well for this game, we know it was going to be a tough game for the fact that we are rival opponents. So, we worked hard for this, we actually came for the three points and we got it in style.

Despite dropping all three points at stake, Eguma also applauded the hosts for their effort in the encounter.

“Our opponent, the Heartland team was very strong; it is a tough team. I commend their effort too. I think they did well also.”
