NPFL 21: Plateau Utd End Nasarawa Utd Unbeaten Run

Mohammed Zulkifilu lone goal proved enough as Plateau United put a stop to leaders Nasarawa United’s six-game unbeaten start to the season in the opening fixture of Matchday 7 in the Nigeria Professional Football League on Friday.

Zulkifilu slotted home in the 36th minute as Abdu Maikaba’s side followed up a draw at Katsina United last time out with victory in Jos.

Plateau United have now kept three shutouts on the bounce and the win moves them up to fifth on the log with eleven points.

The visitors have been impressive away from home this season winning at Warri Wolves and Heartland and drawing at Adamawa but couldn’t muster the goal to rescue a point despite finding promising positions in the game.

Despite losing the league’s only unbeaten record, Nasarawa United who failed to score for only the second time this season keep their place at the top with 12 points.

They could, however, drop out of the top four if rivals Enyimba and Rangers both of whom are two points behind and Lobi Stars who are a point further behind win their outstanding games at the weekend.
