No More Super 8 as NNL Postpone Playoffs

The Nigeria National League (NNL) have postponed the Super 8 playoffs due to the indecision of the League Management Company (LMC), Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), and the NNL itself on the number teams that will be promoted for the 2018/2019 NPFL season which was originally slated for December 17, 2018.

The decision came as a result of the absence most of the competing teams, with only Gombe United and Real Stars present at the Enyimba Stadium, the venue for the tournament.

The Super 8 was slated for Wednesday, December 19, but many teams pulled out of the tournament giving different reasons ranging from logistics to unavailability of players.

Meanwhile, the NPFL transfer window closes on Thursday, December 20, while teams are yet to finalise transfers, with some clubs being short of players.

With this new development, it is uncertain when the 2018/2019 NPFL season, which is projected to be abridged, will commence – another dent in Nigerian Football.
