NNL To Adopt New League Format At AGM

The Nigeria National League (NNL) has announced that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of clubs and the management of the league ahead of the new season will take place on Wednesday, 6th March in Abuja.

The meeting between the stakeholders of Nigeria’s second tier league will hold at the Brookville Hotel and Suites in the Gaduwa district of the city and will serve to affirm the business and programmes for the 2018/2019 season.

The AGM is expected to approve the 13th March as kickoff date for the 2018/2019 NNL season and a decision is expected to be made about what format the league adopts for the new season. The league fixtures and group pairings are also expected to be drawn at the AGM.

The NNL had adopted an abridged format featuring four groups of ten(10)clubs each in the 2017/2018 season with the winners and promoted sides decided by a ‘Super 8’ playoff between the top eight teams at the end of the season.
