Kaduna United, Ibom Youths and Crown FC all recorded home wins in Sunday’s set of fixtures in the 2018/2019 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The matches decided on Sunday were the last set of Match Day 2 games in this season’s NNL.
Earlier on Saturday, Shooting Stars put their disappointing draw at home to Abia Comets behind them as they recorded a dramatic 2-1 away victory over Giant Briller FC in Enugu in Group B1.
Following a goalless first half, Opeyemi Olufemi put the visitors ahead in the 79th minute but the hosts were awarded a penalty in the 96th minute which they duly dispatched to restore parity. There was to be late drama however when Ahmed Rasheed scored with virtually the last kick of the game to break the hearts of the home fans and send the Oluyole Warriors into rapture.
FC Taraba secured a highly controversial 2-1 victory over Kogi United with a disputed goal at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo.
Brian Isaiah put the hosts ahead in the 21st minute but Bernard Mandela’s second was fiercely disputed by the visitors as having entered via the side netting. The goal was however allowed to stand and although John Jerome pulled one back for Kogi United in the 86th minute, the home side held on for the win.
Over in Jos, Daniel Reuben, Jibril Mustapha and Al Kassim Mohammed were all on target for Mighty Jos in their 3-1 win at home over Aklosendi International in Group A4.
