NNL Chief Discountenances Reports of Indefinite Postponement of Draws

Chairman of the Nigeria National League (NNL), Chidi Offor Okenwa says “the report on the indefinite postponement of the draw is untrue and should be discountenanced” in a release made available to the media.

Reports emerged on Monday that the draws for the NNL had been indefinitely postponed but the NNL boss disparaged the report and pointed out the draws for the 2019 fixtures will most likely take place between March 28 and April 2, 2019.

According to the release made available on Monday, “The report on the indefinite postponement of the draw is untrue and should be discountenanced. It is null, void and of no effect.  The process of kick-starting the League is in due course and NNL never proposed today, Match 25 as draw date for the league. “

The statement reminded clubs to ensure they had duly registered before the end of Wednesday as the draws will most definitely commence after the deadline for clubs to register.

“Clubs should take note, as agreed, that all registration matters end on the 27th of March and then the draws. The said 25th date meeting by the NNL was meant to be for policy statement on the mode of the draws,” the statement read.

A total of forty-two (42) clubs are expected to participate in the 2019 NNL season.
