Nigerians In The NBA: Aminu, Oladapo Feature In Respective Team Victories

Nigerian basketball stars like Al-Farouq Aminu, Victor Oladapo and many more were in action for their respective clubs in the National Basketball Association (NBA) on Thursday morning.

D’Tigers of Nigeria star Al-Farouq Aminu made his first NBA start of the season for Portland Trail Blazers in their 124-76 win over Phoenix Suns at Moda Center. He played for 28 minutes and contributed five points, 12 rebounds and two assists.

The game was his 521st in the NBA as helped the Blazers record the biggest first day winning margin ever.

For Victor Oladapo, the basketballer with Nigerian parents recorded 22 points, five rebounds and four assists in the 25 minutes he played in his Indiana Pacers’ 140-131 win over Brooklyn Nets in their first game of the season.

Nigeria-born player Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 37 points and 13 rebounds for Milwaukee Bucks in their 108-100 win over Boston Celtics. Another Nigerian-born star in Semi Ojeleye scored just three points in the 12 minutes he featured for the Boston Celtics.
